Grand-Illusion-Mystery-Quilt-step-4

After holiday baking and grocery shopping today, I managed to get Step 2 completed and on Step 1 I got 62 completed. After Christmas I plan on working completely on this to get caught up.

I love seeing how everyone else is doing, it keeps me excited to get back to mine.

I did get the Stack And Whack quilt completed and quilted and bound.  I also did contact the instructor on the Fractured Quilt and got the info necessary to get started on that as my next project next year.

Mean while I completed the last Mystery Quilt "Celtic Solstice" this summer and have to yet quilt and bind it. Then I attended a workshop by Bonnie Hunter and made a quilt from men's recycled shirts called Tumalo Trail and I need to get it quilted and bound yet.  So I have been pretty busy this year working on completing quilt tops.
My guild also has me working on a group project called "double wedding ring" quilt in addition to the other projects and I hope to get it completed this winter.
All these quilts will be given as gifts to my children and grandchildren as keepsakes and I will need 17 total.

I actually got about 125 half square triangles cut out using the Easy Angle ruler and got a few of them sewed.
I am working on some Christmas projects and have to complete those before I can do very much on this new mystery.

Library Project February linkup

I have been working hard on my Diamond Ring Stack N Wack quilt.  I have all of my prints for the diamonds cut and assembled.  This is a large quilt, 93" square and it is assembled in sections of nine blocks each.  There are nine sections, it is tricky as you assemble because the alternate blocks between the diamonds have to be assembled using the correct print to match to the diamond you are next to.  Then there are border blocks that also contains matching prints to the diamonds.
If you want to make a quilt that is a bit of a challenge....this qualifies.   Oh, did I mention it also has lots of bias edges to work with also.

I have assembled three sections so far.

  • February through November - Monthly links ups on the third Friday of every month with progress on your projects
  • December 2014 - Final post to show off all of your finishes and link up to be eligible for the prize!

This group is trying to actually use our purchased quiltbooks or magazines we have on hand and choose a project from each of these unused books. The purpose is to complete a number of quilts this year that you choose from these unused books.   This is a quilt along to encourage each other and have a link up once a month for an update on everyone's progress.

My first project will be Stack N Whack Diamond Ring.
I am preparing the fabric presently and will start cutting this week.

My second project will be a Fractured quilt.
I have the fabric on hand and needs to be washed and pressed yet.

Books that these projects are from will be listed in my next post.
